SKOS is a concept-oriented data model therefore the concept is the central element of the terminology. Concepts are the units of thought — ideas, meanings, or (categories of) objects and events which underlie the different types of knowledge organization systems. SKOS explicitly distinguishes between concepts and the labels (terms) used to represent concepts. The class skos:Concept is the class of SKOS concepts.
