When there are many term that represent the same concept, one is designated the preferred therm, and the others non-preferred. For the preferred term select:
- the term that reflect the most the usage of the concepts in a domain
- the term with the most widely accepted spelling as the preferred term.
- a loan term from another language if it is well established
